Austin is known for big hearts and bold events, and this spring, Masonwood Development is bringing both together in a powerful way. Heroes by Day, the charity event honoring veterans, first responders, and everyday community heroes, is coming to the East Club at Austin FC Stadium on Thursday, April 23rd, from 6–9 PM. All proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, with every guest contribution matched dollar-for-dollar by Masonwood Development.
If you’re looking for a meaningful night out in Austin that combines entertainment, community, and real impact, this is it.
What is Heroes by Day?
Heroes by Day celebrates service with a high-energy, purpose-driven evening that unites veterans, hometown heroes, and community supporters under one roof to honor those who give so much to our country and our neighborhoods during a night unlike anything else on the Austin social calendar.
Presented by Masonwood Development, the Austin-based real estate developer behind some of the region’s most thoughtfully designed communities, Heroes by Day was born from a deeply personal story. The event was inspired by Gary Vail, U.S. Army Warrant Officer 2 and beloved brother of Masonwood’s own Development Operations Manager, and a man known for his candor, leadership, and dedication to serving others. Known to many as SoldierByDay on Instagram, Gary served for nearly 17 years before his passing in a car accident. His legacy lives on through this event, which now honors not only fallen soldiers but all those who serve our communities every day, from military personnel to EMS workers and first responders.
A Night You Won’t Want to Miss
Forget everything you picture when you hear “charity event.” The energy will hit you the moment you walk in as the East Club at Q2 Stadium is transformed into a fully immersive, Vegas-caliber casino environment for the evening.
With blackjack tables, craps, roulette, and a room packed with Austin’s most engaged community of builders, developers, veterans, and civic leaders, the floor is designed for real connection in a high-energy setting that makes conversation easy and memorable
Beyond the casino floor, the night will deliver:
- A Vegas-style buffet: a premium spread, all evening long
- A dedicated DJ: high-energy entertainment all night long
- Bar service: cocktails and conversation flowing throughout the night
- A Wounded Warrior Project special speaker: a firsthand, powerful story of service, challenge, and the life-changing impact of community support
Along with the festivities, veterans will have direct access to resources, support networks, and the organizations showing up for them throughout the evening. Donation stations and QR codes will be placed throughout the event, with contributions remaining open for 72 hours after the night ends to extend the impact well beyond a single evening.
Why It Matters
The Wounded Warrior Project provides life-changing programs and services to veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound while serving in the military. Events like Heroes by Day are how those programs stay funded, and how communities like Austin demonstrate that the support for those who served doesn’t end when the uniform comes off.
This kind of community investment defines what Masonwood stands for, and as the premier sponsor, they are matching all guest contributions to effectively double the impact of every dollar raised on the night.
Rooted in Community, the Masonwood Way
For those familiar with Masonwood Development’s work across the Austin area, none of this will come as a surprise. The same intentionality that goes into crafting master-planned communities like Provence extends into how they show up for the people who call Central Texas home.
Provence residents and Masonwood homeowners have long known that choosing a Masonwood community means joining a developer that genuinely invests in the broader Austin community, and Heroes by Day is that ethos made visible.
Connect With the Organizations Doing the Work
One of the most valuable elements of Heroes by Day is the room itself. Attendees will have direct, in-person access to some of Central Texas’s most active veteran support organizations, all present and engaged throughout the evening. This is a rare opportunity to make real connections with the groups doing the work every day:
- Community First
- Community Veterans Project
- HomeAid Austin
- Patriots Hall
- Phoenix Ranch
- Wounded Warriors Project
